- When Was the Last Time You Were in the Photo? A Mother’s Day Story Photoshoot in Manchester
A Quiet Reflection on Motherhood and Being Seen One day, your children won’t care how you looked — they will care that you were there. They will search for photographs of you. Not the perfectly styled version. Not the filtered one. Just you — holding them, laughing with them, being their safe place. And they will wonder why you weren’t in more of them. A Mother’s Day photoshoot in Manchester isn’t about posing beautifully. It’s about existing in your children’s story — visibly, confidently, permanently. - Catherine & Steven's wedding at Hoghton Tower in Preston, Lancashire
Catherine and Steven promised to stay true and hold hands as they age, memorising the grooves and crevices on each finger. As husband and wife, they promised eternity and a day in their vows and sealed their commitment with a kiss at Hoghton Tower in Preston, Lancashire The rest of the evening was spent popping, clinking, and cheering for what may have been the happiest couple in the world at that exact moment. Catherine and Steven, I hope you’ve enjoyed your big day. You deserve the best, and I’m beyond thrilled to call you my clients. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Much Love and Appreciation…M. I wanted to share a handful of images from their big day and tell a bit more about their special wedding day at Hoghton Tower. In Catherine & Steven's own words, here's their story, so take a look below, and enjoy. How did you meet? - We met through work, and just got to know each other more and more each day. Tell me more about your engagement, and when and how this happened . - Steve planned a surprise trip to Rome, and spent all weekend trying to find an opportunity to propose! We ended up doing an underground crypts and catacombs tour and walked over 80,000 steps over the day. Eventually, Steve thought “now or never” and asked if I would like to come back to Rome again...as his wife! I, of course, said yes! How long did you plan your wedding? - We initially got engaged in 2017, thinking we might get married a year or so later. By the time we had started seriously planning and arranging things for 2020, of course, COVID hit and our plans went awry! We had to move our wedding date 3 times before we were able to tie the knot, at a restricted ceremony with only 13 guests. We finally had our celebration on 1 October 2022! What made you choose your wedding venue? - Steve arranged for us to go on a ghost walk at Hoghton Tower on Valentine's Day. We have been in love with the place ever since, and it seemed perfect for us as a couple to celebrate our big day. What was your favourite part of your wedding day? - It is so hard to choose! We adored every second of it! But some highlights have to include the 9 layers of Hell wedding cake based on Dante’s Inferno, the fire performers in the courtyard, and of course the phenomenal atmosphere in the evening celebrations, finally being able to celebrate with all of our friends and family. What was your first dance song? - Elvis Presley- Can’t Help Falling in Love with You Would you like to say a special thank you to somebody who helps you make your wedding day perfect? - Everyone who was a part of the day, both this time and on our wedding day on 4 November 2020. Friends, family, venue staff, the cake maker, photographer, celebrants, registrar, caterers, DJ... With such a long, uncertain and tumultuous process to finally get the wedding we have wished for so long. Everyone has been so supportive and bent over backwards to accommodate all the changes. It has shown us such a beautiful side to people, both close friends and near strangers. It has made the whole experience so much more powerful, meaningful and totally unforgettable. Catherine and Steven's wedding day was one of the most special days for them, and I am so lucky to have witnessed and documented the good vibes there. Also, please check out the photographs from their engagement session.

- Creative Newborn Photography in Manchester: Newborn Portrait Ideas to Treasure Forever
Welcoming a new baby into your life is one of the most magical moments you’ll ever experience. Those tiny fingers, delicate yawns, and peaceful slumbers are fleeting, and capturing them creatively can turn these precious memories into timeless treasures. If you’re in Manchester or the North West, you’re in luck! There’s a wonderful world of newborn portrait ideas waiting to be explored, and I’m here to guide you through it with warmth and inspiration. Why Creative Newborn Portrait Ideas Matter When it comes to newborn photography, it’s not just about snapping pictures. It’s about telling a story - your story. Creative newborn portrait ideas help you capture the essence of your little one’s personality and the emotions swirling around this new chapter. Instead of the usual posed shots, think about incorporating elements that reflect your family’s unique vibe. For example, you might want to include a cherished family heirloom, a favourite soft toy, or even a cosy blanket that’s been passed down through generations. These details add layers of meaning and make your photos truly one-of-a-kind. Here are some ideas to spark your creativity: Use natural light to create soft, dreamy images. Capture candid moments of your baby’s tiny expressions. Incorporate textures like knitted hats, wraps, or wooden props. Experiment with black and white photography for timeless elegance. These ideas don’t just make your photos beautiful; they make them deeply personal. Soft textures add warmth and comfort to newborn portraits. Exploring Newborn Portrait Ideas That Feel Just Right Finding the perfect newborn portrait ideas can feel overwhelming, but it’s all about what feels right for you and your family. I love encouraging parents to think beyond the traditional and embrace creativity that reflects their lifestyle and personality. One idea I adore is the “day-in-the-life” style shoot. Instead of posed studio shots, this approach captures your baby in their natural environment - whether that’s snuggled in a nursery, nestled in a favourite chair, or even during a quiet feeding moment. These images tell a story that’s authentic and heartfelt. Another beautiful idea is to play with colour palettes that complement your home décor or your baby’s nursery theme. Soft pastels, earthy tones, or even bold pops of colour can make your photos stand out and feel cohesive. Don’t forget about sibling and family portraits! Including older siblings or parents in the frame creates a sense of connection and love that’s priceless. A baby peacefully wrapped in a pastel-coloured blanket Soft pastel colours create a gentle and calming atmosphere in newborn portraits. How to Prepare for Your Creative Newborn Photography Session in Manchester Preparation is key to a smooth and enjoyable newborn photography session. Here are some practical tips to help you get ready: Schedule early - The best time for newborn photos is usually within the first two weeks, when babies are sleepier and easier to pose. Keep your baby comfortable - Dress your baby in loose, comfortable clothing and bring extra layers for warmth. Create a calm environment - A quiet, warm room helps your baby stay relaxed and sleepy. Bring essentials - Don’t forget nappies, wipes, feeding supplies, and a favourite toy or blanket. Trust your photographer - A skilled photographer knows how to handle newborns gently and safely, so relax and enjoy the process. By preparing well, you’ll help your baby feel secure and make the session a joyful experience for everyone. Capturing Authentic Moments with newborn photography manchester When I think about newborn photography in Manchester, I’m reminded of the incredible stories I’ve had the privilege to capture. It’s not just about the images; it’s about the emotions, the connections, and the memories that last a lifetime. Choosing a photographer who understands your vision and values authenticity is so important. I always aim to create a relaxed atmosphere where your baby’s natural beauty shines through. Whether it’s a gentle yawn, a tiny stretch, or a sleepy smile, these moments are pure magic. If you’re looking for a photographer who combines creativity with warmth and professionalism, check out newborn photography Manchester . It’s all about capturing your family’s unique story with care and artistry. Tips for Displaying and Preserving Your Newborn Portraits Once you have your beautiful newborn portraits, you’ll want to showcase them in ways that keep those memories alive every day. Here are some ideas to help you display and preserve your photos: Create a photo album - A professionally printed album is a wonderful keepsake that you can flip through for years to come. Frame your favourites - Choose a few standout images and frame them in your home. Grouping them in a gallery wall adds a personal touch. Make digital backups - Store your photos safely on cloud services or external drives to protect against loss. Gift prints to family - Grandparents and close relatives will cherish receiving prints of your newborn. Use creative formats - Think beyond standard prints. Canvas wraps, metal prints, or even photo blocks can add a unique flair. Displaying your newborn portraits thoughtfully turns your home into a warm, loving space filled with memories. I hope these ideas inspire you to embrace creative newborn photography and capture those fleeting moments with love and imagination. Remember, your baby’s story is unique, and your portraits should be too. Whether you’re drawn to soft, natural light or bold, colourful setups, there’s a perfect style waiting for you in Manchester and the North West. - Boudoir vs. Erotic Photography: What’s the Difference and Which is Right for You?
Boudoir vs. Erotic Photography: What’s the Difference and Which is Right for You? When it comes to celebrating sensuality and self-confidence through photography, both boudoir and erotic styles offer unique ways to express personal beauty and power. However, they differ in style, mood, and intent. If you’re thinking about booking a session but aren’t sure which is the right fit, here’s a breakdown to help you decide. Boudoir Photography: Elegant and Intimate Boudoir photography is designed to be soft, classy, and empowering. Typically shot in a comfortable, private setting (like a bedroom or cosy studio), boudoir photos focus on capturing your natural beauty in an intimate way. Outfits often include elegant lingerie, silk robes, or even your favourite cosy sweater. Poses tend to be graceful, focusing on the curve of your silhouette, a subtle smile, or a thoughtful gaze, giving a polished, often romantic feel. The result? Images that are both sensual and approachable, perfect if you’re looking for something that feels elegant, understated, and empowering. Erotic Photography: Bold and Intense Erotic photography takes sensuality a step further, embracing a bolder, more intense side of expression. The focus is on capturing the raw power of intimacy, and it often involves stronger poses, intense expressions, and dynamic body language. Outfits may be more revealing (sometimes including partial nudity) and lighting can create dramatic contrasts. This style is ideal if you’re comfortable exploring themes around desire and self-expression on a deeper, edgier level, resulting in images that are powerful, emotional, and evocative. Which is Right for You? The choice between boudoir and erotic photography is a personal one, based on what you hope to capture and celebrate. If you’re looking for a confidence boost, an elegant keepsake, or a thoughtful gift for a partner, a boudoir may be the perfect fit. On the other hand, if you’re feeling bold and want to explore a more intense side of yourself, erotic photography could be just what you need. No matter which style you choose, both boudoir and erotic photography sessions are all about self-expression, confidence, and embracing who you are. Ultimately, go with the style that feels true to you and enjoy the transformative experience!

After playing in several bands together it didn't take long for us to become a couple. Could you tell me more about your engagement, when and how this happened? The location further out of the city was also very nice, with beautiful grounds & surroundings. What was your favourite part of your wedding day? It's difficult to pick, but probably being able to celebrate with everyone who came, especially in the evening when we had the amazing Jukebox Band playing for us and everyone was up on the dancefloor! What was your first dance song? Our first dance song was 'Baby I'm Yours' by Arctic Monkeys. Played by Jukebox Band, who were great! Would you like to say a special thank you to somebody who helped you make your wedding day perfect? There were a lot of people involved in making the day happen, so it's hard to single anyone out in particular. - Are you the next supermodel? How to avoid modelling scums?
It is difficult to ignore flattery, especially where our children are concerned, but if a model agency we know nothing about tells us that we are the next supermodel or our child is model material, is it a compliment or deception? It's very common these days that you receive comments or messages on social media complementing your appearance or even asking if you are a professional model. If someone contacts you and offers a photoshoot or asks you to send some photos, please be very careful. It is very unusual for models to be approached via social media. Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat are commonly used by scammers, not legitimate agencies. Look at what they are saying, if they use sordid terms of endearment (e.g. “babe”, “hun”) or use inappropriate/excessive flattery (e.g. “You’re so sexy”) this is a red flag. Ask them for their full name and who they work for. Scammers are usually hesitant to the point of rudeness. They may refuse to give their information and say something like “if you don’t believe me, that’s not my problem. I can find another model easily.” A scammer may also say there is a strict time limit so they need your information/photos ASAP. Never let yourself feel pressured into doing something you are unsure of. If you get all the details, next you need to find out whether the person in contact with you actually works for a real agency. This is easy enough to discover; research the legitimate agency online and contact them via the telephone number listed on their official website. Never use a phone or e-mail given to you by the person you are researching; they may be fake. Some people may say they work for an agency that is actually a scam agency. If you can’t find much information about an agency online, and if you feel concerned that they might not be legitimate, it is better to avoid them. How to check the Modelling Agency? My friend proud mum of a beautiful girl always had people coming up to her in the street saying how good-looking her daughter is. After so many compliments, she decided to search for child modelling agencies to try and get her daughter's foot in the modelling world. She typed in a google search ''child modelling agency'' and she decided to go with the first one on the top of the page, she thought that must be one of the best if it was on the top. Unfortunately, that was a very bad choice. She filled out some forms and send photos of her daughter and on the same day she had a phone call with the good news that her daughter was chosen for a test photoshoot in a few days. She just had to pay a £50 deposit to secure the place. Of course, later she found that she need to pay a membership fee to be represented by this agency and more money for some extra photos. And guess what she never received any invitation for casting or get offered any modelling job. Some agencies may appear “legitimate”, but they may be using this as a money-making ruse or they may treat their models badly. If an agency asks for payment upfront, avoid them. No proper agency will ever ask for money. Agencies make their money by taking a cut of the model’s paycheque when they get a modelling job. You should not have to pay for modelling or dance lessons, nor should you have to pay for a portfolio or a membership fee. Try to talk to some other models who are signed by the agency and ask them what the agency is like to work with. Reviews will help you decide whether the agency is the right fit for you. Research the company. Try searching online for the modelling school or agency’s name with words like “scam,” “review,” or “complaint.” Don’t deal with a modelling program that tells you how you have to pay. If a modelling program or school requires certain kinds of payments — cash, money order, gift cards, wire transfers through a company like MoneyGram or Western Union, or cryptocurrency — that’s a sure sign it’s only interested in your money and not your modelling career. If you are a minor, you MUST have a parent or guardian’s permission to model. If someone is approaching you online promising modelling opportunities, tell your parent or guardian immediately. By law, a young model must have their responsible guardian’s consent to the model. They must also be present at any castings or interviews. What to Do if You Paid a Scammer Scammers often ask you to pay in ways that make it tough to get your money back. No matter how you paid a scammer, the sooner you act, the better. - Sarah & Leonardo wedding at Bowdon Rooms
Sarah and Leonardo said their vows and celebrated the moment when their hearts grew to encompass the merging of two cultures, families, lives and hopes at Sale Town Hall. The reception was at The Bowdon Rooms with fantastic food and drinks. They hosted a stunning wedding filled with love, laughter, and happiness. Sarah & Leo thank you for inviting me to document your first day as husband and wife. Much Appreciation and Love… M. I wanted to share a handful of images from their big day and tell a bit more about their special day. In Sarah & Leo's own words, here's their story, so take a look below, and enjoy. How did you meet? I and Leonardo met where we work at Manchester Airport, Giraffe back in 2017 Tell me more about your engagement, and when and how this happened? We were engaged in September 2019, he took me to Miradouro Pico dos Barcelos, which is a viewpoint overlooking Funchal, Madeira. How long did you plan your wedding? Originally, we planned to be married in Madeira in 2021 but the universe had different plans. On New Year’s Day 2022, I said to Leo we should just throw caution to the wind and plan to be married in England, I gave Leonardo May, June, August and September written on 4 pieces of paper and said to choose one. He picked May, our original month for the Madeira wedding, and our wedding journey started there, giving us 4 months to plan. At this time, I had booked us in to view many venues all over Manchester, we had faced a lot of disappointment with choosing the date so close to the time. What made you choose your wedding venue? I came across The Bowdon Rooms online and contacted them for viewing. We had already gone to see one the day before and had another booked in after Bowdon, but even just the moment we both stepped into the building we knew whatever we had seen before or after that point was irrelevant. The Bowdon Rooms was our venue. By February, just a month after deciding to have an English wedding, our venue was locked in! What was your favourite part of your wedding day? Our favourite part of the day was the cake cutting. Neither of us had a clue what we were doing, no idea which tier we were supposed to cut so we just stabbed the cake on top! And then Leonardo in his classic, but a very inappropriate sense of humour lifted the knife to his neck. Truly mortifying for me, and absolutely hilarious to him! What was your first dance song? Our first dance was A Música do Gago by Ruben Aguiar. The chorus of this song features my name, and Leonardo often plays it at home or at parties and sings it to me, I didn’t tell him I picked this song until that day. Would you like to say a special thank you to somebody who helps you make your wedding day perfect? In terms of special thank yous, everyone that joined us has been with us since day one, our most supportive friends and family. We do want to give special thanks to Filipe and Catia who were our witnesses/ padrinhos (godparents to the wedding). They are our closest friends and have shown us what real love and commitment are in the tough world we live in. We truly cannot express our gratitude enough to everyone, including yourself, the team at The Bowdon Rooms and the amazing Carolina who baked our cake.
