  • Newborn Photos in Manchester- Baby Alfie

In life, it just doesn’t get much happier than the arrival of a new baby. One moment, there is simply the dream of this unknown, but already-loved person. The next moment—Waaaaaah! Here he is, old-soul eyes blinking in the sudden light. Here he is, tiny clenched fists still holding tight to the wonder of the place he’s just come from… What a privilege it is to photograph the first days of baby life, every little detail, tiny ears, little pink toes, those rolls, chubby cheeks and wispy lashes...Remember them they change so very quickly. They are not little for long :)

  • Engagement photo shoot in Alderley Park, Cheshier

I would like to share some photos from my last engagement photo shoot at Alderley Edge Park. The weather wasn't the best but I glad this didn't stop us, photos are a bit darker and misty and that's makes them special and more unusual. Sometimes when you don't expect too much you reach for the best. #engagementphotography #couplephotosession #weddinginKnutsford

What made you choose the Lancashire Manor your wedding venue? We loved Lancashire Manor as the great hall just took our breath away when we first for a visit. What was your favourite part of your wedding day? Our favourite part was seeing each other down the aisle after being so nervous. What was your first dance song? Our first dance song was the one by kodaline, it’s just such an emotional song that captures us. Would you like to say special thank you to somebody who helps you make your wedding day perfect? We would like to thank all our friends and family, especially Sarah’s Aunty Nikki who worked day and night to get everything perfect. #Wedding #WeddingatLancashireManor

  • How to avoid child modelling scams

I've seen many posts on social media about modelling agencies "Amateur models needed, all ages, sizes, and looks." or perhaps "New faces needed! No experience necessary" or " Huge demand on children models". You've always known that you looked good, or someone told you you are very photogenic or your child love to pose to the photos and have a great smile. So perhaps you've always considered that career as a potential future for yourself or your child...So, when you call back, you're told that they are holding a session this weekend. You show up, dressed to the nines, and you are told you need to pay a £100 photographer's fee for the session today. Then you're given a lecture about commitment, determination, and deeper pockets, about how important a portfolio is for a model, even an amateur one. You ask if you can supply your own pictures. You have plenty of good portraits on your smartphone. They tell you they require you to use their own photographer with professional equipment. You ask if this constitutes a contract, and you're told no, this is just a meet and greet, where they get a few pictures to see if anyone else would want to book you. You have to build a portfolio first, they emphasize. And that costs money. You are told that you can earn big money as a model for very little work. That is just one of the scenarios and it happens more often than you think. These con artists only get away with it because they are not confronted. The more people the realise that they are a scam and question their conduct the more people will be saved from falling victim to them. Firstly DO NOT hand over money to anybody that invites you to a test shoot. You may be told that you need to pay a deposit for a test shoot - this is not how real agencies work. DO NOT hand over to anybody that says your child needs a portfolio. They DO NOT. Under no circumstances does a child need a portfolio to enter the modelling industry. A few professional snaps are always nice BUT a legitimate agency will sort that out for you or at least point you in the right direction. It certainly wouldn't EVER cost £2000, not even £1000, in fact... Not even £150! Do NOT give these con artists your card details or set up a direct debit for overpriced, rubbish, unedited photographs that you DO NOT need. These 'agencies' are simply photography studios, some don't even have professional photographers. They pray on dreams and hopes of children and parents. They make you think that your child has star potential and they use that to squeeze money from you. Real agencies do not conduct themselves like this. If you have been scammed you can file a complaint with the EAI. The link is below, make sure you fill it out and send it. They will be investigated and shut down. The more people that know how a scam agency works, that know how to complain, the HARDER it is for these agencies to operate. Please read the link below and share with friends that are thinking about it too. This is government link - it's reliable, legitimate and trustworthy. https://employmentlaw.blog.gov.uk/2015/01/08/regulation-of-modelling-agencies/ With around 20 child model agencies across the UK, each with several hundred children on their books, it is a competitive world. There are lots of stunning children out there, all vying for similar jobs. It’s not unusual for agencies to receive more than 200 applications a week from parents of would-be child models – but 95 per cent get rejected by return post. Even if your child is beautiful, he or she might not have what it takes. Looking great in the flesh, doesn’t always translate on camera. Best models are happy and natural, don’t mind being photographed and love dressing up. They need to enjoy being the centre of attention. If you haven’t been put off yet and you would like to practice your child modelling skills contact me to arrange a photoshoot because the most important are the memories and stunning photographs you will have.

  • Children photo shoot - Isabelle at Fletcher Moss Park

It’s said that you should never work with children or animals. With photography, though, children and animals can be the most entertaining subjects to work with! The beauty of shooting children is capturing them as they are, and the best shots are often impromptu. Unless I’m working with a professional child model my shoots are never longer than an hour, I’m always watching for the signs they are done – pushing a child beyond that point doesn’t benefit anybody. Even as an adult, having a camera point at us makes us squirm. So it’s no wonder that the kids start acting unnatural when you point a camera at them. When photographing children, I need to be persistent and patient, lifting the camera often enough that the kids get used to it. After a while they should forget it’s there and you’ll have those candid, natural shots that always look the best. Studios can be intimidating – generally I recommend not using a studio unless it’s commercial work. I always suggest finding quiet outdoor locations when children can run around and play. I prefer natural light and a natural environment (at a park or at home), as I believe the raw emotions of children should be depicted in the raw light. I’m being a bit silly when I work with children. No matter what I shoot that day I want them to go home with a smile on their face, excited to see the photos. We arrange session with Isabelle at The Fletcher Moss Park in Didsbury, Manchester. It's a beautiful park and it's not very busy. She was a little star playing around, smiling and posing. We have so many beautiful photos so it was really difficult to choose just a few to publish. If you are looking for bespoke children/family high quality photography contact me to book your session or to get more information. • Pre-wedding photo shoot in Salford Quays.

I met with Michelle and Simon a few weeks before their wedding day to take some engagement photos in Salford Quays. An engagement shoot is a wonderful idea to consider before your wedding. Whether you want to re-create your proposal moment, capture some beautiful photos in a spot that has meaning to you both, or just simply want to get to know your photographer, having an engagement shoot is a fantastic way to express that elated glow you get in the lead up to the aisle. An engagement shoot could help settle pre-wedding nerves and get you used to be in front of the camera. Not to mention it builds trust with your photographer and gives you an idea of how they will photograph you as a couple.

  • Clare & Ben Wedding Day at Mere Court Hotel in Knutsford

On a perfectly warm and sunny spring day, Clare & Ben surrounded by their friends and family at The Mere Court Hotel in Knutsford promised to love, honour, and cherish for the rest of their lives and sealed their devotion with a kiss, which was heralded as the beginning of something new. Together. They hosted a stunning wedding filled with love, laughter, and happiness. Clare and Ben thank you for inviting me to document your first day as wife and husband. Much Appreciation and Love… M I wanted to share a handful of images from their big day and tell a bit more about their special day. In Clare and Ben's own words, here is their story, so take a look below, and enjoy... How did you meet? We first met on the dating app Tinder. I was staying with family in Bolton when I first saw Clare from Knutsford’s beautiful smile and I thought she’d be a lovely person to get to know, so I ‘swiped right’ and it wasn’t long before she must have thought the same about me and we ‘matched’! We texted for a couple of weeks until next time I was over that way and I called her up to arrange our first date which took place at Costa coffee in Altrincham on 5th May 2014. Tell me more about your engagement, when and how this happened? We got engaged on the 7th April 2018 at the Harry Potter Studios, underneath the big model of Hogwarts castle. I’d been planning it for a while and we had both booked to go there quite a long time beforehand but Clare had no idea it was going to happen there! The ring arrived the day before we went (thankfully), and I was thinking about it the whole way round...i knew where I wanted to do it but the model isn’t until the very end of the tour. Anyway, she was quite emotional when we got to the model of Hogwarts even before I’d said anything...we are both big Harry Potter fans, and seeing the castle is quite a magical moment. So at the right moment I asked her if she had enjoyed her magical adventure, then I got down on one knee and asked her if she wanted to start another one with me! She said yes!! How long did you plan your wedding? We got married 9 days before the 1 year anniversary of our engagement (29th March 2019), so we had planned it for very nearly a year. What made you choose your wedding venue? Mere Court Hotel was only the second venue we visited and we loved it from the moment we saw it. Everything felt right, the staff were really friendly and the place and the grounds just looked stunning. What was your favourite part of your wedding day? Our favourite part was standing in front of all our friends and family, knowing each and every person who was sat there and saying ‘I do’ to each other. The vows, the readings and the words the registrar read out at the end of the ceremony were perfect. What was your first dance song? It was a trio of songs from Back to the Future (another of our favourite movies). Started with Earth Angel by Harry Waters Jr and Marvin Berry, followed by Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry and finally The power of love by Huey Lewis and the News! A six minute masterpiece mixed together by me! haha! Would you like to say a special thank you to somebody who helps you make your wedding day perfect? We would both like to say a special thank you to our parents, without whom it would not have been possible. They were all so generous and helpful throughout the whole process and were so glad to see them all as happy as we were on the day. We would also like to thank Sarah at The Petal Shop in Lymm for her amazing floral creations that decorated our day so beautifully, and to the staff at Mere Court, particularly Megan Clarke for being our wedding coordinator and for making everything run so smoothly. Finally we want to thank you for being there and capturing the whole day! We can’t wait to see the photos and can’t ever thank you enough for being so relaxed, happy and helpful throughout, it really put us both at ease. I always feel awkward getting my picture taken but you made it very easy, even telling me where to put my hands when they were doing something strange! Clare would particularly like to thank you for being patient, and guiding us through the group photos on the day! The Ballad of Ben and Clare It was early twenty four-teen I downloaded Tinder on my phone After moving in to Chesterfield My first flat on my own It showed me lots of pictures Of women in the area Most resembled Chewbacca Some were even hairier So I changed my distance preferences And looked further afield And I noticed Clare from Knutsford Whose smile instantly appealed It turned out that she liked me too She kicked things off with ‘hi’ I think I wrote for 15 minutes And sent an essay in reply And that’s how things continued For the first couple of weeks Until May the 4th when we first spoke And planned the next day to meet At a coffee shop in Altrincham Somewhere public, somewhere safe Just in case she was a lunatic And I could easily escape But I really didn’t need to She was lovely from the start With her smiley face and bubbliness A potential counterpart We’ve had lots of dates and lots of plates To many places we’ve skidaddled Like to Islay for the whiskey Or our first Valentines at Swythamley Chapel I’ve seen Paris and Croatia, I’ve seen Barcelona too, I’ve seen Belgium, I’ve seen Italy And all of it with you You’ve really made me happy You’re my best friend, now my wife I can’t wait for more adventures I’ll love you all my life #weddinginKnutsford #weddingphotographerinBury #WeddingPhotographyCheshire #weddingatMereCourt

  • Top 5 Beaches in the North West England

Formby Beach, Merseyside Conserved by The National Trust, Formby Beach has to be seen to be believed. With fine sand, dramatic dunes and fringed by pine trees, it offers endless space, so even on busy days the beach won’t feel too overcrowded. There’s not an awful lot here other than sea and sand so come well prepared with picnic, bucket and spade and all your other beach essentials. It’s also a good idea to bring a windbreak or tent to protect you from the elements, as there is little shade to be found once you’re on the beach and it can get very windy. Don’t miss a walk through the stunning woodland; just one of the few places in the UK where you might see endangered red squirrels. Parking costs £6 (Cash only) or is free with a National Trust membership. For more information visit https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/formby St. Bees Beach A beautiful beach with pebbles, sand and rock pools. There is a short walk along a concrete path to the south but far better is to make the climb up on to St Bees Head and look out on to a spectacular, vicious Irish Sea to the north and west. Nice play park above the beach ideal for kids and an area to exercise dogs. For more information visit http://www.stbees.org.uk/facilities/beaches.html St Anne's Beach, Lytham St Anne's, Lancashire St Anne’s offers all you could want for a day trip to the seaside with plenty of activities for small children and a vast sandy beach, which at low tide seems to go on forever. The Victorian Pier provides a stunning backdrop to this traditional resort and has all the usual amusements, shops and food places. A lot of money has been invested into revamping this place and it really does show. We spent a lovely spring day here earlier this year, with a picnic on the beach, paddling, trampolines, miniature train, adventure playground and a free splash pool around the bandstand – which we couldn’t get our toddler out of! Ample parking and if you can get a space on the road, there’s no charge. Exceeded all expectations. For more information visit www.visitlythamstannes.co.uk Ainsdale Beach, Merseyside This is such a vast expanse of beach. So big, in fact that there’s even a car park on the sand! If you fancy a paddle it’s quite a long walk down to the shoreline (5 minutes) but kids generally love the open space, soft sand and beach game potential, plus it has some remarkable dunes, which form part of a nature reserve. Not much else here other than a snack bar, ice cream van and toilet facilities, but that’s one of its merits. If you want a little more action head over to nearby Southport for its Victorian charm, boating lake, model railway and funfair. For more information visit www.visitsouthport.com West Kirby Beach West kirby is always a good place to visit plenty of walks on the sand dunes and red rocks as well as the beach Wonderful any time of the year different scenery ever time. Beautiful views over the Dee estuary to North Wales and Hilbre island. Sand, dunes, walkways .... Marine lake with boating facilities, cafes to buy ice creams, coffee or lunch...shops to browse for fun and a lovely atmosphere. Summertime - donkey rides on the beach. A love;y bracing walk around the marine lake, especially exciting when the tide comes in and covers the causeway... you'd better be quick! • Best photo locations in Manchester and around Manchester

A spectacular range of architectural styles makes Manchester a great location for photo shoots. Modern, Contemporary, Georgian, Roman and Gothic, Manchester has it all. Manchester is one of the most vibrant cities in England, throbbing with creativity, full of interesting architecture and home to possibly the most famous football club in the world. There truly is something for everyone in this industrial city – and we promise that it doesn’t always rain! There are many reasons to visit Manchester but as a photographer, I always look for the best spots to take photos. I photographed many weddings, couples and families in the Manchester area so I decided to write a series about my favourite locations for a photo shoot in Manchester and around Manchester. Today 3 location in the city centre of Manchester, 2 under roof perfect for rainy days and one outside. 1.The John Rylands Library 150 Deansgate, Manchester M3 3EH One of the most spectacular places in Manchester. The John Rylands Library is a late-Victorian neo-Gothic building that today is part of the University of Manchester Library. While plenty comes here to research and study their historic collection, it's worth a visit and takes some pictures for the amazing architecture of the library. 2. Manchester Town Hall Town Hall, Manchester M60 2LA To walk its interior or just sit in Albert Square and view it or walk around its exterior, the experience is breathtaking. Manchester's impressive gothic town hall and political home, on Albert Square, was designed by architect Alfred Waterhouse and opened in 1877. The building's Great Hall features murals by pre-Raphaelite master Ford Madox Brown and the town hall interior has regularly been used by film-makers as a replica for the inside of the Houses of Parliament. Manchester Town Hall is as well a very popular place for weddings. 3. Manchester University village Situated in the city centre, a perfect place for a photo shoot with a combination of beautiful old and modern architecture. Worth to visit Manchester Museum and Whitworth Gallery If you decided to visit Manchester and you are looking for someone to show you a city and take great candid photos of you along the way, please contact me.

  • Janine & Scott wedding at Etrop Grange Hotel in Manchester

Janine & Scott said their vows at Etrop Grange Hotel. That was the beginning of something new. Together. They hosted a stunning wedding filled with love, laughter, and happiness. Thank you for the honour of being your wedding photographer. Much Appreciation and Love...M :) I wanted to share a handful of images from their big day and tell a bit more about their special day. In Janine & Scott's own words, here is their story, so take a look below, and enjoy... How did you meet? We met 12 years ago whilst out with friends and family in a Manchester city centre bar, danced through the night and exchanged numbers, after a week we started speaking to each other daily on the telephone as we lived in different cities at the time, and it was clear that we had strong feelings for each other as the calls progressed. Tell me more about your engagement, when and how this happened? We have been on a journey in our relationship for many years, these years have brought joy and sadness however our love for each other has never faded. It could be said that the love we had for each other had at times made the journey harder however it is through this journey that our love has found strength and security. We realised that we could not live without each other and wanted to make a commitment to each other for the rest of our lives. We planned our special day from that conversation. How long did you plan your wedding? We married a year from engagement, going to a wedding fair at the venue we eventually married in, the venue was decided on very quickly and we had most of the wedding planning and arrangements decided on with 4 months of setting a date. What made you choose your wedding venue? We went and visited several venues across Manchester and Salford, Etrop Grange stood out from arrival, it was exactly what we were looking for with the idea of a twilight wedding which included all the elements wanted for our wedding. The staff were really approachable and incredibly accommodating to our wishes, when we visited for a wedding fair the quality of the décor, food and atmosphere was perfect. What was your favourite part of your wedding day? Janine's favourite part of the wedding was standing at the back of the room looking down the isle and seeing my face smiling, waiting for her. Scott's favourite was looking into each others eyes and exchanging our vows to each other during the wedding blessing ceremony. Would you like to say a special thank you to somebody who helps you make your wedding day perfect? Scott – My best man Dave who also blessed the wedding, without his friendship and support the day would not have been the same. Janine – A special thank you to my bridesmaid/sister Vicky and my friend Hannah for keeping me calm, making me laugh during the morning and run up to the ceremony. A special thank you to my parents for all their support.
