  • 5 reasons why family photoshoots are an absolute necessity

📸 Capturing Precious Moments with the Ones We Love! 🌟 Hey, everyone! 😊🌸 Today, I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of family photoshoots and how they play a significant role in preserving our cherished memories. In this fast-paced world, we often find ourselves caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life. But amidst all the chaos, it's essential to pause, reflect, and appreciate the incredible bonds we share with our loved ones. A family photoshoot isn't just about capturing picture-perfect smiles and poses; it's about freezing moments in time, capturing the love, laughter, and unique dynamics that make our families truly special. These photographs become cherished keepsakes, reminding us of the beautiful journey we've embarked upon together. Here are five reasons why I believe family photoshoots are an absolute necessity: 1️⃣ Preserving Memories: Life moves swiftly, and our loved ones grow up and change before our eyes. A family photoshoot allows us to freeze those fleeting moments and create tangible memories that can be treasured for generations to come. 2️⃣ Celebrating Togetherness: A photoshoot is an opportunity to gather everyone together, regardless of how busy our lives may be. It's a chance to reconnect, share laughter, and strengthen the unbreakable bonds we have with our family members. 3️⃣ Capturing Authenticity: A professional photographer has a remarkable talent for capturing the true essence of each individual. They create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable, resulting in genuine smiles and candid moments that reflect the unique personalities within our family. 4️⃣ Showcasing Growth and Milestones: From welcoming a newborn to witnessing graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, and beyond, our families experience countless milestones. A photoshoot allows us to encapsulate these significant moments, showcasing the growth and progress we've made together. 5️⃣ Creating Heirlooms: The photographs captured during a family photoshoot can be passed down through generations, becoming treasured heirlooms. They provide a tangible link to our family's history, allowing future generations to connect with their roots. So, my dear friends, I encourage you to consider scheduling a family photoshoot soon. Take a break from the routine, gather your loved ones, and let a professional photographer capture the magic that resides within your family. Remember, the greatest gift we can give ourselves and our loved ones is the gift of lasting memories. ❤️📸 Let's embrace the joy of a family photoshoot and create a beautiful legacy together! #FamilyPhotoshoot #CreatingMemories #TreasuredMoments #CherishedKeepsakes

  • Rebecca & Peter's Wedding at Lancaster House Hotel.

It was meant to be about marriage and a personal celebration. Rebecca & Peter committed to cultivating a private moment between two people in love, they promised to love, honour, and cherish for the rest of their lives and sealed their devotion with a kiss, which was heralded as the beginning of something new. Together. The rest of the evening was spent popping, rattling, and cheering to what may have been the happiest couple in the world at that exact moment. They choose a stunning location for the wedding celebration - Lancaster House Hotel Rebecca and Peter, I hope you’ve enjoyed your big day. You deserve the best and I’m beyond thrilled to call you my clients. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Much Love and Appreciation…M. I wanted to share a handful of images from their big day. In Rebecca & Peter's own words, here's their story. How did you meet? We met at university through the Music Society, it turned out that we both play the trombone! Could you tell me more about your engagement, when and how this happened? We went for a long weekend away in the Lake District for Rebecca’s birthday in 2020. We had a lovely time filled with long walks and good food, and Pete booked a fancy hotel room with a hot tub as a surprise. Pete proposed and we celebrated by spending the evening drinking prosecco in the hot tub! How long did you plan your wedding? We spent two and a half years planning the wedding – we weren’t in any rush and wanted plenty of time to organise the big day. What made you choose your wedding venue? Lancaster House Hotel is just next to the Lancaster University campus where we met and we had previously been to events there. It was a sentimental venue for us so choosing to have the wedding there was a no-brainer. What was your favourite part of your wedding day? The whole day was fantastic so it’s hard to pick a favourite part! The ceremony was really lovely and the band in the evening were amazing. What was your first dance song? You’re My Best Friend by Queen Would you like to say a special thank you to somebody who helps you make your wedding day perfect? There are so many people who contributed to the day and helped to make it so special – our family, friends and all the suppliers and professionals we worked with!

  • Catherine & Steven's wedding at Hoghton Tower in Preston, Lancashire

Catherine and Steven promised to stay true and hold hands as they age, memorizing the grooves and crevices on each finger. As husband and wife, they promised eternity and a day in their vows and sealed their commitment with a kiss at Hoghton Tower in Preston, Lancashire The rest of the evening was spent popping, clinking, and cheering for what may have been the happiest couple in the world at that exact moment. Catherine and Steven, I hope you’ve enjoyed your big day. You deserve the best and I’m beyond thrilled to call you my clients. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Much Love and Appreciation…M. I wanted to share a handful of images from their big day and tell a bit more about their special day. In Catherine & Steven's own words, here's their story, so take a look below, and enjoy. How did you meet? - We met through work, and just got to know each other more and more each day. Tell me more about your engagement, and when and how this happened. - Steve planned a surprise trip to Rome, and spent all weekend trying to find an opportunity to propose! We ended up doing an underground crypts and catacombs tour and walked over 80,000 steps over the day. Eventually, Steve thought “now or never” and asked if I would like to come back to Rome again...as his wife! I, of course, said yes! How long did you plan your wedding? - We initially got engaged in 2017, thinking we might get married a year or so later. By the time we had started seriously planning and arranging things for 2020, of course, COVID hit and our plans went awry! We had to move our wedding date 3 times before we were able to tie the knot, at a restricted ceremony with only 13 guests. We finally had our celebration on 1 October 2022! What made you choose your wedding venue? - Steve arranged for us to go on a ghost walk at Hoghton Tower on Valentine's Day. We have been in love with the place ever since, and it seemed perfect for us as a couple to celebrate our big day. What was your favourite part of your wedding day? - It is so hard to choose! We adored every second of it! But some highlights have to include the 9 layers of Hell wedding cake based on Dante’s Inferno, the fire performers in the courtyard, and of course the phenomenal atmosphere in the evening celebrations, finally being able to celebrate with all of our friends and family. What was your first dance song? - Elvis Presley- Can’t Help Falling in Love with You Would you like to say a special thank you to somebody who helps you make your wedding day perfect? - Everyone who was a part of the day; both this time and on our wedding day on 4 November 2020. Friends, family, venue staff, the cake maker, photographer, celebrants, registrar, caterers, DJ... With such a long, uncertain and tumultuous process to finally get the wedding, we have wished for so long. Everyone has been so supportive and bent over backwards to accommodate all the changes. It has shown us such a beautiful side to people, both close friends and near strangers. It has made the whole experience so must more powerful, meaningful and totally unforgettable. Catherine and Steven's wedding day was one of the most special days for them and I am so lucky to have witnessed and documented the good vibe there. Also, please check out the photographs from their engagement session.

  • Are you the next supermodel? How to avoid modelling scums?

It is difficult to ignore flattery, especially where our children are concerned, but if a model agency we know nothing about tells us that we are the next supermodel or our child is model material, is it a compliment or deception? It's very common these days that you receive comments or messages on social media complementing your appearance or even asking if you are a professional model. If someone contacts you and offers a photoshoot or asks you to send some photos, please be very careful. It is very unusual for models to be approached via social media. Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat are commonly used by scammers, not legitimate agencies. Look at what they are saying, if they use sordid terms of endearment (e.g. “babe”, “hun”) or use inappropriate/excessive flattery (e.g. “You’re so sexy”) this is a red flag. Ask them for their full name and who they work for. Scammers are usually hesitant to the point of rudeness. They may refuse to give their information and say something like “if you don’t believe me, that’s not my problem. I can find another model easily.” A scammer may also say there is a strict time limit so they need your information/photos ASAP. Never let yourself feel pressured into doing something you are unsure of. If you get all the details, next you need to find out whether the person in contact with you actually works for a real agency. This is easy enough to discover; research the legitimate agency online and contact them via the telephone number listed on their official website. Never use a phone or e-mail given to you by the person you are researching; they may be fake. Some people may say they work for an agency that is actually a scam agency. If you can’t find much information about an agency online, and if you feel concerned that they might not be legitimate, it is better to avoid them. How to check the Modelling Agency? My friend proud mum of a beautiful girl always had people coming up to her in the street saying how good-looking her daughter is. After so many compliments, she decided to search for child modelling agencies to try and get her daughter's foot in the modelling world. She typed in a google search ''child modelling agency'' and she decided to go with the first one on the top of the page, she thought that must be one of the best if it was on the top. Unfortunately, that was a very bad choice. She filled out some forms and send photos of her daughter and on the same day she had a phone call with the good news that her daughter was chosen for a test photoshoot in a few days. She just had to pay a £50 deposit to secure the place. Of course, later she found that she need to pay a membership fee to be represented by this agency and more money for some extra photos. And guess what she never received any invitation for casting or get offered any modelling job. Some agencies may appear “legitimate”, but they may be using this as a money-making ruse or they may treat their models badly. If an agency asks for payment upfront, avoid them. No proper agency will ever ask for money. Agencies make their money by taking a cut of the model’s paycheque when they get a modelling job. You should not have to pay for modelling or dance lessons, nor should you have to pay for a portfolio or a membership fee. Try to talk to some other models who are signed by the agency and ask them what the agency is like to work with. Reviews will help you decide whether the agency is the right fit for you. Research the company. Try searching online for the modelling school or agency’s name with words like “scam,” “review,” or “complaint.” Don’t deal with a modelling program that tells you how you have to pay. If a modelling program or school requires certain kinds of payments — cash, money order, gift cards, wire transfers through a company like MoneyGram or Western Union, or cryptocurrency — that’s a sure sign it’s only interested in your money and not your modelling career. If you are a minor, you MUST have a parent or guardian’s permission to model. If someone is approaching you online promising modelling opportunities, tell your parent or guardian immediately. By law, a young model must have their responsible guardian’s consent to the model. They must also be present at any castings or interviews. What to Do if You Paid a Scammer Scammers often ask you to pay in ways that make it tough to get your money back. No matter how you paid a scammer, the sooner you act, the better. • Sarah & Leonardo wedding at Bowdon Rooms

Sarah and Leonardo said their vows and celebrated the moment when their hearts grew to encompass the merging of two cultures, families, lives and hopes at Sale Town Hall. The reception was at The Bowdon Rooms with fantastic food and drinks. They hosted a stunning wedding filled with love, laughter, and happiness. Sarah & Leo thank you for inviting me to document your first day as husband and wife. Much Appreciation and Love… M. I wanted to share a handful of images from their big day and tell a bit more about their special day. In Sarah & Leo's own words, here's their story, so take a look below, and enjoy. How did you meet? I and Leonardo met where we work at Manchester Airport, Giraffe back in 2017 Tell me more about your engagement, and when and how this happened? We were engaged in September 2019, he took me to Miradouro Pico dos Barcelos, which is a viewpoint overlooking Funchal, Madeira. How long did you plan your wedding? Originally, we planned to be married in Madeira in 2021 but the universe had different plans. On New Year’s Day 2022, I said to Leo we should just throw caution to the wind and plan to be married in England, I gave Leonardo May, June, August and September written on 4 pieces of paper and said to choose one. He picked May, our original month for the Madeira wedding, and our wedding journey started there, giving us 4 months to plan. At this time, I had booked us in to view many venues all over Manchester, we had faced a lot of disappointment with choosing the date so close to the time. What made you choose your wedding venue? I came across The Bowdon Rooms online and contacted them for viewing. We had already gone to see one the day before and had another booked in after Bowdon, but even just the moment we both stepped into the building we knew whatever we had seen before or after that point was irrelevant. The Bowdon Rooms was our venue. By February, just a month after deciding to have an English wedding, our venue was locked in! What was your favourite part of your wedding day? Our favourite part of the day was the cake cutting. Neither of us had a clue what we were doing, no idea which tier we were supposed to cut so we just stabbed the cake on top! And then Leonardo in his classic, but a very inappropriate sense of humour lifted the knife to his neck. Truly mortifying for me, and absolutely hilarious to him! What was your first dance song? Our first dance was A Música do Gago by Ruben Aguiar. The chorus of this song features my name, and Leonardo often plays it at home or at parties and sings it to me, I didn’t tell him I picked this song until that day. Would you like to say a special thank you to somebody who helps you make your wedding day perfect? In terms of special thank yous, everyone that joined us has been with us since day one, our most supportive friends and family. We do want to give special thanks to Filipe and Catia who were our witnesses/ padrinhos (godparents to the wedding). They are our closest friends and have shown us what real love and commitment are in the tough world we live in. We truly cannot express our gratitude enough to everyone, including yourself, the team at The Bowdon Rooms and the amazing Carolina who baked our cake.

  • How to Prepare for Your Maternity Photography Session

Tips on how to look beautiful for your maternity photoshoot Look beautiful for your maternity photoshoot! Pregnancy is a special time of your life and for many women, (although you may not feel like it) you are at your most natural, feminine and beautiful self. During your pregnancy, your hair is rich and thicker, your breasts are fuller, your skin is glowing and your body has more curves. For many expecting mothers, there’s no better way to remember their pregnancy and chronicle their journey to motherhood than a professional maternity photoshoot. Here are a few tips to help you look and feel your best in your maternity photoshoot. WHEN TO COME IN FOR THE SHOOT For expecting mamas with singletons, a good time to do your maternity photos is when you are 28 – 32 weeks along in your third trimester (around 7 – 8 months pregnant). Your belly is showing beautifully round but you are still comfortable to pose. For expecting mamas with twins (or more), come in earlier around 26 – 30 weeks as twins tend to arrive much earlier than singletons. PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP AND HAIR I highly recommend professional makeup and hair. Not only will this make your photographer’s work easier, but you will also feel beautiful and confident at your session. Speak with your makeup artist about how you would like your make-up done. Generally, professional makeup is a bit heavier and colourful than your day-to-day makeup and that’s OK! Whether your photo session takes place in natural light or studio lights, your make-up will look very flattering. However, if it’s not in the budget, your going-out-on-a-hot-date makeup and hair are fine too! Natural-looking fake lashes can really flatter your eyes. The day before the photo session get yourself pampered. Enjoy it while you can and this is the perfect excuse for it. Make sure you are exfoliating your skin and moisturising. Get your nails and toes ready for the shoot. And drink a lot of water, your skin will look much better! POSING Trust your photographer to direct you in posing so you can look your best. What makes maternity photos different from other portraits is that the images focus on you, your personality, feelings and the bond you have with your much-awaited baby. Many maternity poses such as hands-on the belly and eyes looking down express emotions and connection to your belly. Other maternity poses empathize with the beautiful curves of your body. WHAT TO WEAR Wear whatever you feel comfortable and pretty in. Here’s a list I provide to my clients: the first one is mandatory, the rest of the list are suggestions. Neutral strapless bra and seamless underwear Black bra and panty set (for those black background belly shots) White/ivory bra and panty set (for those white background belly shots) Long, flowy or form-fitting dress (e.g. tube dress or a summer maxi dress) Coordinating outfits (for significant other/husband and/or children. Choose a colour palette that you like and coordinate your outfits accordingly. Visit my Pinterest Board to get some ideas!) Any favourite scarves, accessories, jewellery, etc. Any sentimental items (e.g. baby ultrasound image) I specializes in maternity for many years and I have maternity dresses, wraps and accessories in my studio available to use. The benefit is you don’t have to buy maternity dresses that you will only wear a few times. One dress can run you anywhere from £100 – £1000 each! There are no extra rental and/or dry-cleaning fees. LOCATION Consider the location of your shoot and the advantages/disadvantages of them. INDOOR (e.g. in the home) The advantage in the home is comfort and connection to familiar surroundings. You don’t have to worry about the weather outside. The disadvantage, you have to clean your house so it will look good in the photos. The lighting may not be optimal. Please check with your photographer on how they will address this. Seasoned photographers will use portable flash if necessary. STUDIO The advantage is convenience and control. You can shoot anytime regardless of the weather. You have access to all dresses and props. OUTDOOR The natural beauty of a pregnant woman in a beautiful outdoor backdrop is simply breathtaking! The parallel of a mother about to bring to life into the world and Mother Nature is a powerful one. The disadvantages are that the shoot is weather-dependent and shooting hours are limited to the golden hour of sunrise or sunset when the quality of natural light is at its best. Reschedules can happen and may trigger the rescheduling of other related appointments (e.g. professional makeup and hair artist, florist, venues, etc.) Remember your sunscreen and bug spray! Be prepared to walk/hike to the location and change outfits outdoors.

  • Newborn photography tips for parents

Parents guide how to prepare for a newborn photo session. Would you like to have beautiful photos of your newborn baby? I have photographed newborns since 2013 and would like to share with you this little Parents guide on how to prepare for a newborn photo session. It will cover the most aspects to consider prior to coming for the photoshoot. If you are still on maternity stage, don’t forget to check out my Pregnancy Gallery Content: When to book the newborn photoshoot? When to do the newborn baby photos? Is it safe to take the newborn photographs? What can you expect from the newborn photo session? What's happening during the session? How to prepare the baby for the photoshoot? What to bring for the newborn photo session? When to book the newborn photoshoot? I suggest booking after the second baby scan, I do only one photoshoot per day and generally, I'm booked a few months upfront. To provide my clients with the highest quality, and none rushed sessions, I am only taking a limited number of sessions per month. It is important to schedule your session while you are still pregnant to avoid disappointment. This way, I can add you to the list of babies due for that month. However, if you just came across my website, and have a baby under 12 days, please contact me, I will do my best to accommodate you. When to do the newborn baby photos? Most of the photographers will say – you need to get your photos done within the first 10 days. Generally, yes that works best if your baby arrives as planned and there are no health problems. What if your baby has arrived four weeks early? I’ve had parents calling me, worried they will miss the window to capture newborn photos. For this group, I always recommend waiting at least three weeks, or often until their actual due date. If the baby is under five pounds (2.2kg), I suggest waiting until they put on a bit of weight. Is it safe to take the newborn photographs? Safety of your baby is most important for me. I'm trained and fully insured newborn photographer. I photograph newborns for over 7 years. I was a physiotherapist and work with babies and children for many years before I started my photography business. All of the newborn sessions are done in my home studio in Manchester, it is warm, welcoming and cosy. Everything has been created for your and baby maximum comfort. You are sure to have a relaxed and peaceful experience. What's happening during the session? The first thing you need to understand about a newborn session is that it takes a lot of time and a lot of patience from everyone. Most parents may think that their newborn session will be a breeze, but the truth is even the "ideal baby" will still be challenging. Please, and I stress, please don't even think about scheduling a doctor or midwife appointment before your session. This will stress out your baby and the session most certainly will not go well. On that note, newborn sessions take a lot of time, so please do not schedule anything after your session. I would hate for you to have to rush out early and not get the images you want. We may spend up to 2-3 hours photographing your baby and wouldn't have it any other way. We allow enough time to account for your baby to eat and for those moments when your little one decides it’s time to use the restroom and we need to clean up. I expect your baby to go to the bathroom on my backgrounds and props; it's just part of the experience and happens every time. My stuff washes easily. Please don't feel embarrassed or feel the need to apologize when this happens at your session. I highly recommend bringing a change of clothes because chances are good that baby might go to the bathroom on you. It also accounts for time to change setups for different poses. We want you to have a great experience and images from our studio. I do keep the studio between 21 and 25 degrees so you will want to dress appropriately. If I am not sweating then it is not warm enough in the studio! So, dress accordingly and maybe wear layers that can be removed if necessary. We’ll photograph your baby in the buff so please do not bring outfits for the baby. Most clothing items swallow the baby and we prefer to capture the naturalness of your baby. We believe it is by capturing the innocence of a nude baby that makes our images art. How to prepare the baby for the photoshoot? On the morning of the shoot, it’s preferable to try and keep baby awake as long as possible. A bath and lots of play is always good stimulation. Feed your baby 2-3 hours before the shoot. This will (hopefully) mean that baby will be ready for a feed shortly after arriving at the studio, which will equal a satiated, comfortable baby. What to bring for the newborn photo session? I always send the following checklist to my clients. The checklist is focused on families who come to my studio for my usual three-hour newborn photoshoot. Bring a snack and water for yourself and any siblings. The photoshoot will be long and you are in the warm room. If siblings are coming, bring some entertainment for them. Don’t forget some bribing material for cuddly sibling shots. Bring at least two changes of clothing, one for the official family photos and one just in case any accidents happen. Bring a couple of wrapping blankets for the baby, to keep them warm during feeds. Bring everything for changing and feeding the baby, including any creams you use or special eco-materials. If the newborn has long hair, bring a brush. Any toys or props you would like to add into the photos. This one can be a bit controversial, but I always suggest bringing a dummy (pacifier). I know many parents are moving away from using these, but if chaos breaks loose and the little one doesn’t want to cooperate, the dummy can help us get through the session. Try to keep your baby awake on the way to the session. A good practice is to arrive, feed and get going with the session. I hope you have enjoyed all the information here and find them helpful. If there is anything else you would like to know or have any questions or concerns, please do contact me. I am more than happy to answer any questions you have. Check newborn gallery I look forward to seeing you soon!

  • Outdoor family portrait photo shoot

Outdoor sessions are great for capturing images of lively children at their best, I like to keep them active in a fun outdoor family photography session. I would like to share a few photos from the garden and home portrait photo session with sweet Isabella and her parents. We arranged this photoshoot in August last year, luckily the weather was perfect and we could do some nice photos in the garden. Outdoor photography is a great alternative to the studio, we can choose from unlimited background options. You can go for the calm, blue waters of the beach or the green grasses and brown mountains. And don't forget about beautiful natural light.
